TikToker Ayesha Akram forgives all accused in Minar-e-Pakistan harassment case

TikToker Ayesha Akram has decided to withdraw her complaint regarding the harassment incident at Minar-e-Pakistan. The assault occurred on August 14, 2021, at Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore, and sparked national outrage after videos of the attack went viral, leading to action from the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Punjab.

The case was initially registered by Lari Adda Police Station, resulting in the arrest of 92 suspects. However, in a recent statement recorded at the Lahore Sessions Court, Ayesha expressed her decision to forgive the accused and not pursue the case further.

Ayesha told Additional Sessions Judge Gul Abbas, “I have forgiven all the accused for the sake of Allah and His Messenger’s approval. I have no objection to the acquittal of the accused. I am freely and voluntarily recording my statement without any fear.”

Aamir Sohail, known as Rambo, along with twelve other accused, have filed for acquittal. The court has scheduled a hearing on August 26 to consider these applications and Ayesha’s statement.

The August 2021 incident attracted widespread attention after the videos went viral, prompting responses from high-level officials. However, some on social media later speculated that the incident might have been a “publicity stunt.”
