Govt to launch glass train between Rawalpindi and Murree

In a five-hour meeting co-chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PMLN President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the Murree development plan was approved, including the introduction of a glass train to boost tourism.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb provided a comprehensive briefing on the development, beautification, transport, construction, and rehabilitation projects.

A key highlight was the approval of the Rawalpindi-Murree tourist glass train project. The meeting decided to hire an international consultant for this initiative.

Furthermore, it was decided to remove high-rise hotel buildings blocking the natural views of Mall Road in Rawalpindi. These hotels will be relocated from GPO Chowk to a new site.

The plan includes the construction and expansion of the old Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Road, with temporary parking spaces to be created on the Old Murree Road.

The remodelling of Jhika Gali Chowk, removal of encroachments, and the restoration of Lawrence College Road and Boostal Mor to Brewery Road were also approved.
