WhatsApp introduces events feature for group chats

Last month, WhatsApp announced a new feature called Events for Communities, which will also be rolled out for regular group chats over the coming months.

While a worldwide release date hasn’t been confirmed, some users have already accessed this feature on WhatsApp for Android’s beta version 2.24.14.9.

According to WABetaInfo, the Events feature is now available for regular group chats not part of any community. A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows that clicking on the paperclip icon in a group chat now includes an “Event” icon.

This allows users to create new events. Group members can view and accept event invites, though only the event creator can make modifications.

It’s important to note that group events are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring privacy and security. Android users eager to try out the Events feature for regular group chats can join the beta program for early access
