PCB Chief Medical Officer Resigns After Committee Issues Report On Ihsanullah’s Injury

The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chief medical officer Dr Sohail Saleem has resigned after an independent medical committee report exposed his incompetence in treating Ihsanullah’s injury.

The report by the independent medical committee revealed that there was delay in reaching the clinical diagnoses and investigation. It further added that the fast bowler didn’t receive a formal rehabilitation process as required by his condition.

Furthermore, the PCB’s medical team planned Ihsanullah’s injury hurriedly without any specialist review and preoperative assessment. Shockingly, the report revealed that the surgeon recommended by the Director of Medical and Sports Sciences was inappropriate, lacking the academics and experience in the field.

It should be recalled that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi had ordered an inquiry following Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen’s revelations about how the medical staff of the cricket board mismanaged Ihsanullah’s injury.

Tareen had also revealed that during the fast bowler’s rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, all his rent and living expenses were paid by the Pakistan Super League’s franchise.
