Sindh govt bans custom number plates

The Singh government has opted to disallow individuals from selecting their regular car plate numbers.

This entails no longer being able to choose specific combinations of numbers or letters from current or future series of plates. Instead, plate numbers will be assigned based on application order, following a sequential issuance process akin to a waiting list. This rule applies uniformly to both private and government vehicles.

Except for premium plates, which have unique numbers or letters that may command higher prices, individuals cannot directly choose these special plates. Instead, they must await a separate government announcement outlining the application process for premium plates.

This change may be unfamiliar to some in Sindh who were accustomed to selecting their plate numbers. However, it aims to ensure fairness by allocating plates based on queue order rather than personal connections or timing advantages.
