Sindh High Court nullifies appointments of 54,000 employees

WEB DESK: The Sindh High Court declared the appointments of 54,000 employees from grades 1 to 15 null and void, according to advertisements in August 2023, against which the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) had filed a petition.

Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput heard the MQM’s petition in chambers, with arguments presented by MQM’s lawyer Farogh Naseem, and Advocate General Sindh providing evidence.

Moreover, the court stated in its order that future recruitments will not be based on walk-in interviews, and the Sindh government should ensure new appointments according to the law, filling posts from grades 1 to 4 and 5 to 15 on a district basis.

Furthermore, Advocate General Sindh proposed on behalf of the provincial government that tests and interviews should be conducted again for appointments, and the Sindh government will issue fresh advertisements for the positions.
