Security guard claims illness, denies intent in fatal shooting of YouTuber in Khi

KARACHI: The security guard involved in the fatal shooting of a YouTuber at Serena Mobile Mall in Karachi’s Sakhi Hassan area has attributed the incident to illness, denying any deliberate action.

In his statement, Hamad Gul cited suffering from dizziness and trembling legs, stating that he is presently undergoing medical treatment. He maintained that he had no intention of engaging in a confrontation with the victim and expressed uncertainty about how the shooting occurred.

Originally from Khyber Agency, Gul relocated to Karachi at a young age and has been employed by Shah Security Company for the past three months. He expressed remorse over the tragedy, emphasising his lack of understanding about how the gun discharged.

Meanwhile, funeral prayers for the victim, 35-year-old Saad Ahmed, were conducted today at Jamia Masjid Darussalam in Buffer Zone. The service was attended by members of MQM-P from the Sindh Assembly, including Jamal Ahmed, Rehan Akram, and Abdul Wasim.

The incident unfolded outside Sarina Mobile Mall in Buffer Zone on Tuesday night.

According to police reports, the victim YouTuber Saad Ahmed was filming a public opinion vlog about the upcoming Pakistan-India T20I World Cup match. During the recording, the 24-year-old vlogger posed a question to the suspect, Hamad Gul, regarding his prediction for the game.

Reportedly, Gul was incensed by the question and subsequently opened fire on the vlogger, leading to the fatal shooting.
