New Privacy Option Coming Soon to WhatsApp Status

Few years ago, WhatsApp introduced the Status feature, allowing users to share text, emojis, photos, and more with their contacts for 24 hours. Users had control over who could see their status updates through the Status Privacy setting.

It allowed them to choose whether updates were visible to all contacts, only certain contacts, or everyone except certain contacts.

Last month, WhatsApp beta for iOS (version 24.10.10.75) introduced a popup that made it easier to adjust the Status Update Privacy setting before posting a new update.

Now, WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.24.12.27) is testing the same feature, with hopes for a broader rollout to Android phones soon.

This new feature serves as a reminder for users about their current privacy settings, ensuring they can make necessary changes without navigating through the settings menu. It aims to make users more aware of their audience for each status update.

Beta channel users might already have access to this feature. If not, it is expected to be gradually rolled out to more testers in the coming days. There is no confirmed release date for the live version yet, but WhatsApp will likely announce the rollout once it happens.
