Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court summons IK for June 28 appearance

WEB DESK: Islamabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered the completion of attendance for the accused in two cases registered at the Ramna police station against Former Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan for violating Section 144.

According to the order, the ATC has ordered the issuance of a production order for Imran Khan’s appearance. The court has issued bailable arrest warrants for the accused who were absent from today’s hearing, including Hammad Azhar, Farrukh Habib, Murad Saeed, and Hassan Khan Niazi.

Furthermore, the cases were heard by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra of the ATC. PTI Senators Shibli Faraz, Ali Nawaz Awan, Wasik Qayyum, and others appeared in court.

PTI’s lawyers, Advocate Sardar Muhammad Masroof and Advocate Naeem Panjutha, also appeared before the court. The PTI lawyer informed the court that more than 50 accused have been discharged in these two cases. Some individuals could not appear in court due to being in hiding.

He requested that those who are currently appearing be discharged under Section 265D. Judge Tahir Sipra remarked that the case has not yet reached the stage where a decision can be made regarding the accused.

Imran Khan’s lawyer stated that a report regarding Imran Khan’s production order was requested in the last hearing. Judge Tahir Sipra noted that no response has been received on this report so far. He emphasised that the attendance of all accused should be completed so the case can proceed.

It was stated that the accused, Imran Khan, is currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, in connection with another case. A production order will be issued for the former Prime Minister’s appearance at the next hearing. All absent accused and the PTI founder are to be presented in court on June 28, 2024
