Imran Khan nominates Sahibzada Hamid Raza to lead PAC

ISLAMABAD: In a surprising turn of events, Imran Khan has sidelined Sher Afzal Marwat and nominated Sahibzada Hamid Raza, head of the Sunni Ittehad Council, for the prestigious post of Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Following Khan’s directives, opposition leader Umar Ayub in the National Assembly (NA) has been instructed to nominate Sahibzada Hamid Raza for the crucial role of Chairman of the PAC. The move comes after Khan initially put forward senior party leader Sher Afzal Marwat for the position.

However, tensions within the party have been exposed as Sher Afzal Marwat revealed in a televised interview that certain party leaders were pressuring Khan to bypass him for the chairmanship of the PAC.

In response, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar stressed the need to keep internal party matters within the party, asserting, “We are not a dictatorship; decisions are made collectively, with input from all members.”

The rift between Sher Afzal Marwat and Sahibzada Hamid Raza became evident when Sher Afzal Marwat criticised the inclusion of PTI members in the Sunni Ittehad Council. Meanwhile, Sahibzada Hamid Raza swiftly responded, clarifying that the decision to include PTI members was made by Imran Khan himself, distancing himself from any involvement. Reaffirming his allegiance to Imran Khan, Sahibzada Hamid Raza urged PTI members to resolve their disputes internally.
