Azlan Shah Hockey cup: Unbeaten Pakistan ties New Zealand

WEB DESK: Pakistan secured a tie in their match against New Zealand on Friday, in the 30th Azlan Shah Hockey Cup. The match took place at 1 pm (PKT) in Malaysia’s Ipoh city. Despite intense competition, neither team managed to score by half-time, resulting in a draw.

The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) confirmed that both Pakistan and New Zealand earned one point each from the match, in Azlan Shah Hockey Cup.

Moreover, having maintained an unbeaten record throughout the tournament, Pakistan has solidified its position in the final match alongside Japan. The showdown is scheduled for 5:30 pm (PKT) on Saturday at the Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh.

In addition, Pakistan currently leads the table with 11 points, while Japan closely follows with one point less. Notably, Pakistan triumphed over Canada 5-4 in their previous match, while Japan secured a victory against hosts Malaysia with a score of 2-1.

Radio Pakistan reported that Pakistan emerged victorious in their matches against Malaysia, South Korea, and Canada, while the matches against Japan and New Zealand concluded in draws. Meanwhile, Japan, having secured an equal number of wins and a draw, is set to face Canada later today at 3:15 pm (PKT).
