90-year-old American receives diploma 73 years after leaving school

WEB DESK: A 90-year-old man from the state of Michigan has been awarded an honorary high school diploma.

The man, named Bob Boone Homie, left school in the 1950s to join the Korean War. However, he has now been awarded an honorary diploma at the age of 90.

In a press release, Portage Public Schools stated that Bob Boone Homie was awarded the honorary high school diploma by Portage Central High School, the same school where he attended classes in 1951 before joining the military.

On this occasion, Mr. Boone Homie said that he often thought about returning to school, but over the years, his attention was focused on his 40-year career at a paper mill and raising his four children.

He mentioned that life continued in its usual way until one day during breakfast, his daughter-in-law asked him what his last wish would be before he dies.

In response, Mr. Boone Homie said that he wished to graduate and go to college.

Hearing this, his daughter-in-law contacted Portage Public Schools, hoping that his wish might be fulfilled, and it was. The school administration awarded him the diploma yesterday.
