WEB DESK: The T20 World Cup 2024 has reached its climax with only four teams left in contention, set to battle it out in the semi-finals scheduled for June 27.

India became the third team to secure their spot in the semi-finals after defeating Australia by 24 runs in a crucial match. This victory followed earlier qualifications by England and South Africa.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan scripted history by qualifying for their first-ever World Cup semi-final. Led by Rashid Khan, Afghanistan secured their place after defeating Bangladesh by 8 runs via the DLS method in a rain-affected Super 8 match. Bangladesh, chasing a revised target of 114 in 19 overs, were bowled out for 105 in 17.5 overs.

Opener Litton Das stood strong with an unbeaten 54, but Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan and pacer Naveen-ul-Haq shone with four wickets each, limiting Bangladesh’s chase despite rain interruptions.
