Sahil Adeem sparks outrage with derogatory comments about women

Controversial figure and self-proclaimed religious scholar Sahil Adeem has once again sparked outrage after making derogatory comments about women, who constitute 50 per cent of the country’s population.

The inflammatory remarks were made during an appearance on the private news channel’s show Mukalma, where Adeem was invited along with renowned writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to discuss women’s rights and human rights.

During the discussion, Sahil Adeem suggested the public conduct research on the basic knowledge levels between men and women by sampling 100 individuals of each gender. “You will find 25 men out of 100 illiterate, fifty men would be 50-50 [neither educated nor illiterate], and 25 would be educated. It’s a sample you can check from anywhere in Pakistan,” he said. “[…] And you will find 95 percent of women out of 100 illiterate,” he added.
