Punjab Bans Plastic Bags

The Punjab Government, under the guidance of Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, has taken a decisive step towards environmental sustainability. A crucial meeting was convened to address the pressing issue of smog and its detrimental effects on the province.

Maryam Aurangzeb announced a significant measure: starting from June 6th, a ban on plastic bags will be enforced throughout Punjab. Additionally, a comprehensive awareness campaign will be initiated to educate the public about combating smog and its associated hazards.

Furthermore, as part of the solar program, government buildings will undergo solarization to harness renewable energy. In line with environmental regulations, all vehicles will be required to obtain fitness certificates, with mandatory annual inspections to ensure compliance.

Maryam Aurangzeb emphasized the importance of local involvement and empowerment in the renewable energy sector. To encourage sustainable practices, incentives will be provided for the production of solar panels at the grassroots level. This holistic approach aims to mitigate environmental challenges while promoting green initiatives for a cleaner and healthier future.
