Another well-known theory traces its roots to a suggestion made to the founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, to name the company “Googol,” inspired by the mathematical term for a large number consisting of 1 followed by 100 zeros. However, during the registration process, a friend inadvertently misspelled it as “Google,” which Larry Page then decided to adopt as the company’s official name.

In essence, “Googol” was coined in 1920 by the American mathematician Edward Kasner’s nine-year-old nephew, Milton Sirotta, to represent a large number in mathematics.
