Govt decide to end solar net metering

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to abolish the current net metering system. The government has decided to install a 600-megawatt solar power plant in collaboration with Saudi Arabian investors, which will be established on a non-binding intergovernmental basis with Saudi Arabia.

The Prime Minister has directed us to send a summary regarding these decisions.

According to Geo Urdu, the Prime Minister has instructed to prepare separate rates for the purchase and sale of solar electricity.

The government has decided to impose fixed charges on consumers installing solar systems, amend net metering regulations, and introduce a separate tariff category.
