WEB DESK: Shoaib Bashir, the talented England spinner representing Worcestershire, made headlines by equalling a record for the most expensive over in English first-class cricket history.
This remarkable feat occurred during a face-off against Surrey, where the 20-year-old cricketer faced the onslaught of his England teammate Dan Lawrence.
During that over, Bashir encountered an extraordinary display of batting prowess from Lawrence, who dispatched five consecutive sixes off his bowling.

The sixth delivery veered so wide down the leg side that it resulted in five wides, compounding Bashir’s challenges. Adding to his woes, Bashir overstepped on the subsequent ball, turning it into a no-ball and conceding two more runs alongside a single to Lawrence.
Despite this, Bashir managed to conclude the over with a dot ball, providing a brief respite from the barrage of boundaries and extras. This performance has now etched Bashir’s name alongside Andrew Flintoff’s memorable over in 1998, where he also conceded 38 runs against Surrey’s Alex Tudor in a County Championship match.
