Trigger Warning: Rape

FAISALABAD: Cleric Abubakar Muawiyah, accused of raping a young boy in Faisalabad, was initially arrested by police but later released following intervention from religious figure Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer.

A video circulating on social media depicts Muawiyah in handcuffs at a local police station, receiving a reprimand from a senior officer. In the video, Muawiyah claims the boy was merely ‘massaging his feet’, to which the officer responds with anger, questioning Muawiyah’s credentials as a religious leader and his fear of Allah.

According to the First Investigation Report (FIR) filed by the boy’s father Muddasar, his son went missing after prayers. Upon searching, Muddasar heard cries from a nearby house and found Muawiyah naked trying to rape the child with a gun in hand. Muawiyah fled the scene when confronted by locals, threatening them with the weapon.

However, after intervention from scholar Allama Ibtisam Elahi Zaheer, the boy’s father forgave Muawiyah, stating, “I forgive Abubakar Muawiyah for Allah’s sake.” On the other hand, Zaheer clarified that the incident was a misunderstanding after speaking with the child’s parents.
