Pakistan to Experience Temperatures 5°C Above Normal This Week

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has warned that different parts of the country are likely to experience temperatures up to 5 degrees Celsius higher than normal this week.

According to a report by the weather department, high pressure in the upper atmosphere, particularly in the southern half of the country, will persist. Furthermore, a westerly wave is expected to enter the western parts on May 10th, spreading to the upper parts by May 11th.

The PMD’s report has informed about the possibility of temperatures increasing by 2-5°C above normal during the week. However, rain, wind, and thunderstorms over the weekend are expected to decrease the intensity of heat.

The Met Department stated that Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad, and Sindh will experience 3-5°C above normal from May 8th to 10th. It added that rain, wind, and thunderstorms are expected in different areas on May 10th and 11th.

PMD has also issued an advisory for the public, advising farmers to manage the watering of crops and wheat harvesting accordingly. Moreover, people have been asked to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight.
