Pakistan earns Rs400 bn revenue via e-stamping system

WEB DESK: A significant achievement has been recorded in revenue collection across Punjab, Sindh, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, surpassing the Rs400 billion milestone since the implementation of the e-stamping system.

The development came to light during a recent progress review meeting led by Chairman Faisal Yousaf of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) on Friday. The meeting, attended by PITB Director General (DG) e-Governance Sajid Latif and other officials, highlighted the remarkable outcomes of this innovative system.

Through collaborative efforts between PITB and the Board of Revenue (BoR), an online platform has been established, enabling citizens to conduct digital transactions seamlessly, exceeding initial projections.

The system has processed over 28.4 million challans to date and issued 19.3 million stamp papers. Notably, Punjab has contributed over Rs371.2 billion, Sindh over Rs27.1 billion, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over Rs1.75 billion to the collective revenue through this streamlined mechanism.

Chairman Faisal Yousaf commended the success of the e-stamping system, emphasising its role in modernising and enhancing transparency in revenue generation.

By transitioning to digital issuance of stamp papers, the system has not only replaced traditional methods but also strengthened revenue streams while minimising risks associated with fraud, financial malpractice, and forgery.
