‘May 9 perpetrators will have to be punsihed as per law’ :DG ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), declared on Tuesday that the law must punish those behind the May 9 riots. He emphasized the need to uphold justice to maintain trust in Pakistan’s legal system.

Nationwide Concern Over Riots

During a press conference in Rawalpindi, Chaudhry noted the May 9 riots concern not just the military but all of Pakistan. He expressed concern over the misleading of some people against the armed forces by certain political figures who encouraged violence.

Targeting of Military Sites

The ISPR director pointed out that rioters specifically targeted military sites, sparking public outrage as evidence came to light. He called for accountability, insisting on consequences for those involved.

Rejecting Dialogue with Aggressors

Chaudhry clarified that there would be no negotiations with groups that attack the army or spread false narratives about it. He called for apologies and a move towards constructive politics.
