Electricity prices likely to increase by Rs3.49 per Unit

WEB DESK: The decision on the request for a 3 rupee 49 paisa per unit increase in electricity rates for one month has been reserved. NEPRA will issue the decision after reviewing the data.

NEPRA Questions Load Shedding Policy

During the hearing, NEPRA questioned why the government imposes load shedding based on losses. NEPRA does not allow load shedding on this basis. They stated that if load shedding is to be done based on losses, the act will need to be amended.

Temperature and Production Factors

NPC officials noted that April’s temperature was 1.5 degrees lower compared to last year. Consequently, production was reduced due to the maintenance of hydro plants.

Current Electricity Production

NTDC officials reported that the country is currently producing up to 21,600 megawatts of electricity. They expect production to increase to 22,000 to 23,000 megawatts in the future. Changes in electricity tariffs in Azad Kashmir will not affect Pakistan.

Contribution of Net Metering

CPPA officials mentioned that the country is currently getting 2,000 megawatts of electricity from net metering. They expressed gratitude for the ample water supply, which has resulted in higher hydroelectric production. Up to 6,600 megawatts of solar panels were imported by March.
