WEBDESK: According to Shafqat Ayaz, the Special Assistant for Information Technology, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government is considering reaching out to Elon Musk to address issues related to slow internet speeds in the province.
He said that the provincial government is exploring the option of contacting Musk for help, and will also seek cooperation from other figures regarding the internet problem.
He also highlighted that the slow internet speeds are severely affecting the Information Technology (IT) sector in the province. While the exact reasons behind the issue remain unclear, the provincial government is committed to taking all necessary steps to resolve the problem.
In addition to reaching out to global experts and companies, the government plans to consult local IT specialists to find a sustainable solution. Improving internet speeds will not only boost the IT industry but also promote innovation in other sectors.
However, on January 4, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) announced that the internet service disruptions in the country had been resolved.
This came after the incorporation of temporary bandwidth into the system to address the issues caused by a fault in the AAE-1 submarine cable near Qatar.
On the other, hand satellite-based internet service, Starlink’s, launching in Pakistan is still in process, with Musk having applied for its registration, and the Pakistani government has decided to hire a consultant to assist in the licensing plan.
