WEB DESK: Will India come to Pakistan for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy 2025, or will Pakistan agree to the hybrid model? The fate of the event will be decided in cricket’s regulatory body meeting scheduled for 3pm today in Dubai.
The ICC board meeting will ponder three options regarding the Champions Trophy 2025, ESPNcricinfo has reported. One of the options is that the event will be played in Pakistan without India.
Another option the board meeting will consider is hosting the event outside Pakistan, but the hosting rights will remain with Pakistan.
The third option, which Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has mentioned many times that Pakistan does not want to opt for, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) prefers, is the hybrid model, in which the matches involving India are played outside of Pakistan.
The issue regarding the venue started when BCCI told the ICC that it would not send its team to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy scheduled from February 19 to March 9, 2025.
Pakistan and India clashes are among the most anticipated sports events in the world, with tickets for such matches being sold within minutes. If India and Pakistan do not play in the Champions Trophy, it will not only be a shock for fans but also a financial loss for the ICC.
