ISLAMABAD: The second round of talks between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led coalition government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will take place today.
The meeting earlier scheduled for 11am was rescheduled and now will take place at 3:30 pm in a closed-door session at the Parliament House.
The National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq will chair the meeting.
The first of talks between jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party and government alliance was held on December 23 which ended on a positive note.
The PTI leader Shaukat Yousafzai has said that his party has finalised its agenda for today’s meeting.
Talking to the media in Peshawar, he said that PTI will keep 2 points at the top of the list in the second round of talks. The demands include release of the PTI workers arrested in the May 9 riots.
Imran Khan’s party is calling for the formation of a judicial commission to probe the events of May 9 and November 26.
Shaukat Yousafzai said that the talks could move forward if the government agreed with their two top demands.
Shaukat Yousafzai also said that if the government does not show flexibility on two points, his party will launch the civil disobedience movement.
The PTI will formulate its plan of action for the protest.
He said that the government has time until January 30.
KP CM to join talks
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur will join the PTI negotiation committee during today’s session.

The PTI committee team includes Asad Qaiser, MWM chief Raja Nasir Abbas, and Hamid Raza.
The government’s side is represented by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, PM advisor on political affairs Rana Sanaullah, Irfan Siddiqui, and others from coalition parties.
