DIR: Northern areas of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received more snowfall during the ongoing winter season which turned the weather freezing cold in the area on Friday.
As per details, heavy snowfall continues in Dir Upper, Chitral and other surrounding areas.
Local authorities reported that Lowari Tunnel received over 10 inches of snow at the site. Heavy machinery is being used to clear Lowari Road.
The local authorities also issued a travel advisory for travellers and drivers to use snow chains while travelling on Lowari Tunnel Road.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (DPM) predicts rain and snowfall in the region will last for three more days.
Synoptic Situation
The country Met Office said that a frontal weather system remains over northern Pakistan and is expected to persist until the morning of January 6.
Rain and mountain snow are expected in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and surrounding hilly areas. Dense fog will likely persist in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh during the night.

Similar weather is expected, with rain and snow in northern regions. Dense fog will continue in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Upper Sindh during morning and night hours.
