Verdict in £190m reference against Imran, Bushra Bibi on Monday

An accountability court will announce its reserved verdict in a £190 million corruption case against Bushra Bibi and her husband on Monday.

The case pertains to allegations of financial misconduct tied to the Al-Qadir Trust and involves accusations of illicit land acquisitions and misappropriation of state funds.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed the corruption reference in December, naming Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and seven others as suspects.

The Accountability Judge Nasir Javed Rana concluded final arguments from both sides this week.

Allegations of Misconduct

The case centers on claims that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi secured billions of rupees and hundreds of kanals of land from Bahria Town Ltd in exchange for legitimizing Rs50 billion returned to Pakistan by UK authorities during the PTI-led government.

The NAB alleges that Imran Khan and others redirected state funds illicitly to an account designated for land payments by Bahria Town, Karachi.

Other individuals implicated in the case include property magnate Malik Riaz Hussain, his son Ahmed Ali Riaz, former accountability czar Mirza Shehzad Akbar, and Zulfi Bukhari, a close aide of Imran Khan.

On December 18, The IHC remarked the trial court can cancel Bushra Bibi’s bail in the Toshakhana II case if she misses a court appearance.
