DG ISPR Shares Pakistan Army’s Tax and Duty Figures for 2022-23

Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif has revealed the amount of tax and duties the Pakistan army paid during 2022-23.

According to the DG ISPR, the military paid Rs100 billion in the form of duties and taxes during this period. The military spokesperson also revealed the tax payments made by other major business groups.

According to him, several institutions under the military’s purview made substantial contributions to the country’s tax revenue, totaling Rs260 billion in tax payments.

The Fauji Foundation made tax contributions totaling Rs223 billion during the same period. The DG ISPR also revealed that the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), a big player in real estate sector of Pakistan, contributed Rs25 billion in taxes to the government.

Maj-Gen Ahmed Sharif revealed these during a lengthy press conference on Tuesday, where he also talked about various other issues. The Pakistan army’s spokesperson stated that the plot to kill Chinese engineers was hatched in Afghanistan.

In response to a question about the possibility of any dialogue with the PTI, he replied: “If some political mindset, leader or clique attacks its own army, causes rifts between the army and its people, insults the nation’s martyrs and issues threats and hatches propaganda, then there can be no dialogue with them.

“There is only one way back for such political anarchists that it (PTI) asks for an earnest apology in front of the nation and promises that it will forgo politics of hate and adopt constructive [style of] politics,” he added.
