An All-Parties Conference (APC) focusing on the Palestinian crisis took place at Aiwan-e-Sadar today (Monday), attended by a political leaders from various parties. However, no Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders were in attendance.

Invited by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the conference has brought together key political figures, including President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) leader Fazlur Rehman and others.

The conference officially began after the national anthem and a recitation of the Holy Quran.

President Zardari calls for withdrawal of Israel frome Palestine

President Zardari expressed deep concerns over the growing tensions.

He also emphasised the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to fulfil its responsibility of establishing peace and security in Palestine and Lebanon and reiterated Pakistan’s decades-old stance for a two-state solution by establishing an independent Palestine state on the basis of pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as its capital.

Calling for a total withdrawal of Israeli forces from Palestine, he also asked the UNSC to restrain Israel from violation of international laws to restore peace in the Middle East.

Nawaz Sharif criticises United Nations

PLM-N President Nawaz Sharif has said that the entire nation wanted the political leadership to make a decision on Gaza and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Addressing the APC, the three-time former prime minister said that Israel continued its brutalities in Palestine. He questioned world’s silence on atrocities in Gaza.

He said that the United Nations failed to implement its resolution on IIOJK.

JUI-F does not support two-state solution of Palestine issue: Fazl

JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that “our party does not accept two-state solution [of Palestine issue]”.

Fazl said that Hamas had launched an attack on Israel last year which changed the genre of the Palestine issue. Rejecting the two-state solution, the JUI-F chief said that there is no justification for Jewish population or settlement in this region.

Situation in Palestine:

It has been 365 days of unrelenting Israeli bombardment, resulting in one of the deadliest conflicts of the 21st century.

More than 41,800 victims have been killed, most of them women and children.

The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.​
