The government has intensified its crackdown on smuggling activities across the country.
Smuggling poses a significant threat to economic development, prompting the government to take strong measures to safeguard public welfare and stabilise the economy.
In October, authorities reported the seizure of over 26,680 cigarette stocks, 138,000 litres of Iranian oil, and 456 pieces of fabric. Law enforcement agencies revealed that significant confiscations occurred in various cities: 10,980 cigarette stocks were seized in Karachi, 15,500 in Peshawar, and 200 in Quetta.

In terms of fabric, 372 pieces were confiscated in Karachi, while 84 pieces were taken in Quetta. The operations also yielded the recovery of 1,000 litres of Iranian oil from Multan, 9,000 litres from Karachi, and 128,000 litres from Quetta.
Since September 1, 2023, the authorities have made substantial recoveries, including 13,088.75 metric tons of fertilizer, 8,613.1 metric tons of flour, 35,128.9 metric tons of sugar, 4,372,675 cigarette stocks, 154,560 fabric pieces, 17.257 million litres of Iranian oil.
