WEB DESK: More than 1,200 people were hospitalized across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the Eid ul Adha holidays, predominantly due to excessive eating and related health issues.
In Peshawar, 610 cases of gastroenteritis were reported in the past 24 hours. Mohammad Asim, spokesperson for Lady Reading Hospital, stated that the majority of these cases stemmed from overeating and the consumption of excessive meat. Additionally, the hospital noted injuries resulting from animal collisions.
During the same period, approximately 500 individuals were admitted due to traffic accidents.

In Punjab, the province’s six major public hospitals recorded a total of 2,200 patients during the Eid ul Adha holidays. Among these, 180 cases involved gastroenteritis, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.
Jinnah Hospital in Lahore treated over 130 patients, while Services Hospital, Ganga Ram, and Mayo Hospital each admitted more than 100 patients.
Medical experts have urged citizens to consume meat in moderation and avoid overeating during the Eid ul Adha celebrations.
