The security guard accused of raping a teenage girl at Lahore’s private college was released on Thursday due to insufficient evidence.

He was initially arrested in Sargodha, following allegations of rape made by students. However, after an extensive investigation, he was released as the authorities found insufficient evidence.

Punjab College students staged on Thursday staged a protest on 6th Road Rawalpindi. The Rawalpindi police arrested over 150 students.

The people of the twin cities faced difficulties today in their commute as Ayub Park Road, one of the busiest roads in Rawalpindi, was blocked due to a protest.

“Parents should keep a close watch on their children and keep them away from any illegal activities. A criminal record can ruin the future of students,” said Rawalpindi police in a post on social media platform ‘X’ formerly known as Twitter.

Reports of a female student’s rape by a guard at a private college went viral on social media on October 14. These reports prompted students to protest in Lahore against the alleged rape. The protests took an ugly turn when the police arrested the students.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam has stated that the reports of the rape are fabricated and without truth, asserting that some individuals are using this incident to further their political agenda.
