Rise in suicides among Indian soldiers in Indian Occupied Kashmir alarms authorities

Indian soldiers are facing a troubling surge in suicides in the region of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK). The most recent tragedy involves Major Barak Singh Pada, who took his own life on May 18 in Akhnoor, Jammu and Kashmir.

Reports indicate that since January 2007, the number of Indian soldiers who have died by suicide in IOK has reached an alarming total of 601. This stark figure underscores a critical issue requiring immediate intervention.

Amid growing concerns, it has been revealed that over half of the Indian security forces deployed in the region are suffering from severe mental stress.

Critics have strongly condemned the Modi government, accusing it of neglecting the mental health and overall well-being of its security personnel in the region.
