The Meta-owned company, Instagram, has changed the profile grid layout, which will now show content as rectangles rather than squares.

The content at Insta’s profile place was once shown in a perfect square format, but it has now been replaced with a TikTok-like more verticle-in shape.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, stated in a story: “I realize some of you adore your squares. Additionally, Instagram has a sort of legacy with square photographs. However, the majority of the submitted content at this time, including both images and videos, is oriented vertically.

“It’s a bummer to crop them too much,” he continued. The alteration may be a “bit of a pain,” according to Mosseri, but he believes that the pain is “transitional.”

“In the long run, I believe people will be thrilled that more of their videos and photos are shown in the profile as intended rather than heavily cropped,” Mosseri stated.

Mosseri’s explanation is consistent with his remarks from August when Instagram announced that it was implementing the modification in a “limited test.”

Additionally, to increase social engagement, Instagram has included a new feature in the Reels feed that allows users to see videos that their friends have liked.
