Punjab will install solar power systems in all 737 of its police stations, including those in Lahore.

Inspector General Punjab Dr Usman Anwar revealed that the solarisation initiative will be executed in two stages. The initial stage will see solar systems installed at 350 police stations, with 40 of these located in Lahore.

The second stage, slated for the upcoming fiscal year, will expand the installation to an additional 375 police stations, each equipped with a 3-kilowatt system and batteries.

Following the police stations, service centers and Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) posts will also receive solar installations. Additionally, 10-kilowatt solar systems are being set up at check posts in the ‘Kacha’ areas.

Moreover, this project, led by the Punjab government in partnership with the Energy Department, aims to generate significant cost savings and enhance environmental sustainability.

Furthermore, Dr Usman Anwar emphasised that these solar systems will not only cut expenses but also support environmental conservation.
