The Punjab Health Department confirmed on Wednesday that the province has recorded 172 new cases of dengue fever in the past 24 hours, raising concerns about the ongoing outbreak.

According to the latest data, Rawalpindi is the most affected area, reporting 157 cases, followed by Lahore with 8 cases and Jhelum with 2. Other districts, including Gujranwala, Chakwal, Attock, Sargodha, and Okara, each reported one case.

The department identified 904 new cases of dengue virus infection, bringing the total number of cases in Punjab for 2024 to 3,771. This surge highlioghts the urgent need for public awareness and preventive measures.

Health department’s response

The health department has assured the public that it has implemented all necessary arrangements to combat the outbreak. A sufficient stock of medicines is available in all public hospitals throughout the province.
