The Punjab cabinet has approved a five-year extension in the age limit for the recruitment of Sub-Inspectors and Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) in the police force.

Previously, the recruitment age through the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) was set between 21 and 35 years. However, with this new decision, candidates up to the age of 40 will now be eligible to apply.

This decision comes as the province faces a significant number of vacancies, with 1,010 ASI positions currently unfilled across Punjab, including in Lahore. The extension in the age limit is expected to help fill these positions and strengthen the police force.

In a separate news, a Special Branch surveillance drone has gone missing while monitoring a Tehreek-e-Insaf protest near Multan Road. According to police sources, the drone disappeared after reaching a high altitude, and officials have been searching for it for the past three days.

Despite ongoing efforts, the drone remains untraceable, leading to speculation about its disappearance. Authorities are considering various possibilities, including technical issues or potential interference, and the investigation is still ongoing to uncover the cause.
