The Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the sentences of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case.
Announcement by IHC Chief Justice
IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq announced the decision and scheduled the appeal hearing post the Eid holidays.
Previous Sentencing and Appeal
Earlier, Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir sentenced Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi to 14 years in prison. They were also disqualified and fined heavily.
Imran Khan’s Defense
During the hearing, Imran Khan reiterated his wife’s innocence, highlighting her unjust implication in the case and the humiliation she endured.

Ongoing Proceedings and Postponement
Chief Justice Farooq mentioned the nearing completion of the cipher case but expressed uncertainty about the duration of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s arguments. Therefore, the court postponed the Toshakhana case until after Eid.
Background on the Toshakhana Reference
The Toshakhana reference, filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on December 19, 2023, involves allegations of retaining a jewelry set gifted by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia without due assessment and violating Toshakhana procedures.
