LAHORE: Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar stated on Sunday that the government is committed to engaging with PTI to achieve political stability. However, he said that the May 9 riots remain unforgivable.

Speaking to media in Gujranwala and Lahore, Tarar said the government aims to sustain recent economic progress. He stressed that political stability is crucial to maintaining this momentum.

He reiterated that acts of violence, such as those on May 9, cannot be ignored. “Anyone involved in such actions must face the law,” he said.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government failures

Tarar accused PTI of poor governance during its 11 years in power in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He cited a financial deficit of 152 billion rupees and a debt burden of 725 billion rupees in the province. He alleged widespread corruption and irregularities.

“I plan to release a white paper on the KP government’s performance,” Tarar announced.

He questioned payments of 51 crore rupees in KP, labeling them suspicious. He also criticised PTI for spending public funds on social media campaigns through dubious companies.

Tarar accused PTI of failing to fulfill promises made to voters. He criticised their governance in KP, pointing to alleged corruption and lack of progress in law and order reforms.

“Where are the police reforms in KP?” he asked. “Law and order have not improved, and resources like Rescue 1122 vehicles were misused for political sit-ins.”

PTI Failures in Kurram

Tarar condemned PTI for neglecting public crises. He said that bodies were laying in Kurram while PTI, instead of addressing these issues, focused on political maneuvers in Islamabad,” he said.

Weakening the State

Tarar accused the PTI of weakening state institutions. He called for accountability in scandals such as BRT, Timber Mafia, and fake licenses.

“PTI’s agenda is to harm the state while ignoring public needs,” he concluded.
