KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee (PKR) showed slight improvement against the US dollar (USD), rising by 0.06 percent during early trading hours in the interbank market on Friday.
In the morning session, the local currency was trading at Rs277.68, gaining 17 paisa against the USD. The previous day, the PKR had settled at Rs277.85, reflecting a loss of 5.77 paisa.
So far in the ongoing fiscal year, the rupee has appreciated by 0.18 percent, or 49.12 paisa, against the dollar. In contrast, it has increased by Rs4, or 1.44 percent, during the calendar year.
On the global front, the US dollar remained stable against other currencies on the first trading day of the month as investors awaited the upcoming US jobs report, which could indicate economic resilience ahead of the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy meeting and a closely contested US presidential election next week.
