The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) decided to withdraw the reference against former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in the LNG case on Tuesday.
The Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana presided over the hearing where the court approved NAB’s request to withdraw the reference against Abbasi. The deputy commissioner informed the court about NAB’s decision to withdraw the reference.
Abbasi appeared before the accountability court accompanied by his lawyers.
In another development, Abbasi urged the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government to make difficult decisions during a media interaction outside the judicial complex in Islamabad. He emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with neighboring countries, particularly Iran.
Recently, Abbasi formally announced his separation from the PML-N by submitting documents for the registration of his new political party at the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) headquarters in Islamabad. He confirmed providing all necessary documents to the election regulator for party registration.
