Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat has hinted at announcing smog holidays in Lahore due to the continuously deteriorating smog situation.

Hayat, while talking about the smog situation in Punjab, said that for now, only school timings in Lahore have been changed. He added, that if the smog situation worsens, holidays will be announced to protect the health of students.

Sikander Hayat said the public needs to also play their part with the government in combating smog.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is continuously worsening in Lahore, with the AQI recorded at 708 during the early hours of Tuesday.

School timings changed in Lahore


The school timings in were changed in the last week of October due to the poor Air Quality and the upcoming smog season.

According to the notification schools across the provincial capital will open from 8:45am to 2:45pm on weekdays. On Fridays, the school will end at 1:45pm.

The school timings have been changed for the next three months and will be effective from October 28 to January 31, 2025.
