Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Speaker Asad Qaiser highlighted that his party does not intend to disrupt the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit scheduled for October 15-16 in Islamabad.

Addressing the media, Qaiser expressed concerns over the health of PTI’s chairman, stating that no medical professional had been sent to attend to him. He also stressed the importance of maintaining contact between the party leadership and its chairman.

The PTI has announced a protest on October 15 during the SCO summit, raising eyebrows about potential unrest during the high-profile event. However, Qaiser clarified that the protest was not aimed at undermining the summit but focused on ensuring the well-being of the party’s founder.

Concerns over government actions

Qaiser also criticized the government, accusing it of coercive tactics, including “kidnapping for votes” to pass a proposed constitutional amendment bill. “We are not against legislation but will not accept laws passed under pressure,” he stated, calling the government’s actions condemnable.

Pakistan is set to host the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). High-ranking officials, including the prime ministers of China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, along with India’s External Affairs Minister and Iran’s First Vice President, will participate in the summit.
