Polio cases have increased with a bang in Balochistan province of Pakistan, while health officials record a total of 26 affected children for the present year.
According to sources, cases were recently ascertained in both Zhob and Jafarabad, making it the third and second cases respectively from these districts for 2024.

Polio cases rise across provinces
The rise in the polio cases is not restricted to Balochistan only. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 14 cases while Sindh has reported its 13 children affected by the virus. There is one case each reported from Islamabad and Punjab, raising the number of affected regions in the country.
Meanwhile, control efforts are ongoing with vaccination and awareness drives being intensified in the affected areas. The health officials have now called on parents to have their children vaccinated in a bid to control the virus spread.
