KARACHI: The Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) has released a report indicating a decline in the crime rate in Karachi for April 2024. According to the report, there were 5,789 reported crimes in April, marking a decrease from 7,539 crimes reported in March.

The report details that among the crimes reported in April, there were 162 cases of robbery and 4,184 cases of motorbike theft. Additionally, 1,368 mobile phones were snatched from citizens at gunpoint.

Other incidents reported include 15 cases of extortion and one case of kidnapping for ransom. Tragically, 59 citizens lost their lives in various incidents during the month.

Over the past four months, a total of 28,416 major crimes have been reported, with 62 citizens losing their lives during robbery resistance.

Moreover, the report highlights that 535 cars and 20,152 motorbikes were stolen or snatched, and 7,470 mobile phones were snatched from citizens by the end of April.

During this period, 40 cases of extortion and six cases of kidnapping for ransom were reported, resulting in the loss of 213 citizens’ lives in various incidents.
