In response to the ongoing delays in passport processing, the Ministry of Interior has announced the arrival of ten advanced desktop passport printing machines in Pakistan. The newly imported equipment, aimed at speeding up the backlog, is expected to be fully operational by next week.
Sources within the ministry shared that the installation process is already underway, and officials are optimistic that the added capacity will ease the delays significantly. Once in place, the new machines are anticipated to double the current printing capabilities, helping to meet the high daily demand for passports across the country.

Currently, passport offices are processing between 45,000 and 50,000 applications each day, but printing output has been limited to around 20,000 to 22,000 passports. The shortfall has led to extended waiting times for applicants. By expanding the printing infrastructure, the ministry hopes to streamline operations and reduce delays.
The Ministry of Interior expressed confidence that these steps will improve the overall efficiency of passport issuance, ultimately benefiting citizens and addressing public concerns over lengthy processing times.
