The fifteen designated bank branches throughout the nation have initiated the process of accepting Hajj applications today (Monday).
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Religious Affairs has stated that each application must include a deposit of Rs200,000 from the prospective pilgrims.
The second instalment will be collected after balloting. However, the remaining dues must be paid between February 1 and February 10, he added.
The quota for the government Hajj scheme is 89,605. In addition to the general scheme, there are 5,000 seats allocated for overseas Pakistanis under the sponsorship scheme.
These seats are available on a “first come, first served” basis. Overseas Pakistanis can sponsor their own or their loved ones’ pilgrimage by sending $4,225 (PKR1,174,296) to a designated bank.
He said that the ministry will monitor the performance of hundreds of bank branches directly through a dashboard.
The government Hajj package includes airfare, meals, training, accommodation and vaccination.
Women pilgrims will be allowed to travel with a group without a male guardian if they have permission from the guardian.
Who is ineligible to apply for the Hajj?
Children under the age of twelve and those with serious and complicated medical ailments will not be permitted to travel for the Hajj, the official said.
Furthermore, advanced-stage pregnant women will not be permitted to travel.
Through the official website, mobile app, social media pages, and Hajj helpline, applicants can get advice.
