ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment of three additional judges in the Balochistan High Court (BHC) and two in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

The Ministry of Law and Justice has issued a gazette notification regarding the appointment of additional judges on Saturday. 

As per the notification, Advocate General Balochistan Muhammad Asif, Advocate Muhammad Ayub Khan, and Additional Attorney General Najmuddin Mengal have been appointed as judges in the Balochistan High Court for a period of one year.

District Sessions Judge Azam Khan and Advocate Raja Inam Amin Minhas have been appointed to the Islamabad High Court.

IHC Chief Justice Aamer Farooq will administrate oath to both IHC additional judges in a ceremony set to be held on Monday.

The president has signed the notification for the appointment of judges of both the high courts.

Yesterday, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) approved the appointment of these judges in two separate meetings, and with the approval of President Asif Ali Zardari, the Ministry of Law has issued a notification.

According to the details, the JCP decided that the nominees who did not secure the required majority vote this time could be renominated for future vacancies.

According to a notification issued by the JCP for the meeting to appoint the IHC judges, there were four vacant positions against which 21 candidates were applicants. However, the JCP approved the appointments of two nominees only.
