LONDON: The London Metropolitan Police, commonly known as Scotland Yard, has arrested Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter Gulfam Hussain Kayani for threatening the Sharif family including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to the sources, Kayani also threatened former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members during the TikTok broadcast.
Sources familiar with the situation said that the PTI supporter used to attack Avenfield apartments with stones and in his recent TikTok Live has also threatened to blow up the Nawaz Sharif residence in London, the capital of England.
He was arrested late on Friday night at the gates of the Avenfield apartments over the complaint of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) UK’s Youth Wing leader Khurram Butt. At the time of arrest, he was live on TikTok.
While speaking to his TikTok followers, he threatened that he will practically “drag” members of the Sharif family on London streets and that he will “avenge” PTI founder Imran Khan if he is harmed in Pakistan.
Kayani also used to incite people to attack the Sharif family and Avenfield in his video and even in interviews with journalists. He used to say that no one can do anything to me if the police take me into custody, I don’t care about it either.
In a video the complainant said, “I passed nearly a dozen Urdu videos to the police in which Gulfam Kayani was issuing threats to kill, harassing, stalking and inciting violence. He threatened he was prepared to go to jail after harming the Sharif family.”
“He named PM Shehbaz Sharif, Nawaz Sharif, and other Sharif family members as his targets. Peaceful protests are fine but threats are unacceptable”.
